Thiebaud's work falls under the Pop art category and became popular in the art world in 1962. His paintings of cakes and pies are colorful and whimsical. Our chalk drawings of cupcakes are no different! We learned about value and blending using chalk. They turned out amazing!!<div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhdcwrtNHzATJueBWlNe_-PQt5kUctzbXFemDdUp-rUDBVJbLhf22OaxG74zDTKhtKrudKese_It3Ms9sHnuVtKWS3aXIhCyOjtEQVQkiig76AlwdgJEjNnS1f-NQzu-vn4ZLX4qm1QOvY/s640/blogger-image-1771620178.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhdcwrtNHzATJueBWlNe_-PQt5kUctzbXFemDdUp-rUDBVJbLhf22OaxG74zDTKhtKrudKese_It3Ms9sHnuVtKWS3aXIhCyOjtEQVQkiig76AlwdgJEjNnS1f-NQzu-vn4ZLX4qm1QOvY/s640/blogger-image-1771620178.jpg"></a></div>Unknownnoreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-452454043680838904.post-54343693702739579152015-01-27T14:20:00.001-05:002015-01-27T14:20:40.887-05:00Molas- 3rd grade<div><br></div>Our A mola is a hand sewn design, usually an animal,made of layers of fabric using the appliqué technique. These native Australians would draw on the bark of trees using animals as their subject matter. He painted his dog, Tiffany and his work caught on quickly. He used bright colors, starting with blue then he ventured into dogs of other colors. <div>Our dogs, like Rodrigue's, are super cordial and fun. Watercolor was used as we discussed various watercolor techniques. <br><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgTyD9bJGSDHekayqVhI7rXVZ5AOCF5_sX8t4Bs-oIvLwcHNuGiEJ0hIEBA7q5-_tBcIWmcdlLXbxYswTwHVMQ74zwS-n0MLW6Xh-mj_OWmZodCpbT_c-HfsVCo_Nn5qCrN2vyxpCfoJU4/s640/blogger-image-908872934.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgTyD9bJGSDHekayqVhI7rXVZ5AOCF5_sX8t4Bs-oIvLwcHNuGiEJ0hIEBA7q5-_tBcIWmcdlLXbxYswTwHVMQ74zwS-n0MLW6Xh-mj_OWmZodCpbT_c-HfsVCo_Nn5qCrN2vyxpCfoJU4/s640/blogger-image-908872934.jpg"></a></div>Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-452454043680838904.post-35477979553866041282014-02-11T08:59:00.001-05:002014-02-11T08:59:19.067-05:003rd grade Molas3rd grade learned about Molas from Panama. Molas are layers of fabric made into a design,typically animals,and are made into clothing. The kuna Indians make Molas and are typically 2-7 layers of fabric in a variety of colors. We made ours out of paper and we cut out various shapes to create patterns. <div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhUe7LWJq13XFdWr6flgINhxO56_KMrcnzYnOA06ZDVz0ewugN2OMO-y6DTwNs4ISSWceMgtAN1Djmz71hpY8mlt_OztCoLYt0hxdzuNyJkTtfUIg80Pdql7z_EBvlZ4NW6d7UZB2iGxYg/s640/blogger-image--272890287.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhUe7LWJq13XFdWr6flgINhxO56_KMrcnzYnOA06ZDVz0ewugN2OMO-y6DTwNs4ISSWceMgtAN1Djmz71hpY8mlt_OztCoLYt0hxdzuNyJkTtfUIg80Pdql7z_EBvlZ4NW6d7UZB2iGxYg/s640/blogger-image--272890287.jpg"></a></div>Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-452454043680838904.post-14722046401106473382014-02-10T09:05:00.001-05:002014-02-10T09:05:02.695-05:001st grade winter landscapesThe 1st graders learned about foreground, middle ground and background in this one day painting lesson. We painted blue paper white on the bottom half and then used very light gray paint to paint two trees on our horizon line. The next tree was in the middle of the white section and is a darker grey. The final tree in the foreground is at the bottom of the page and overlaps some of our previous trees making it look like it is in front. This one was painted black. These were a great one day landscape study. <div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgeB1oKeVhEcMSh0sYo2wBO6-yTXRXzws9c7_LbMSHrjYFNwoA38slwQtCTcQ42vhVjNSyBmNlJuTcNsvnCsfFIfV9tR2j43Q33D0gb7DKNr12yFqC57hoitFsP-fDhX9Z7aV0bH8bCBMA/s640/blogger-image--196936804.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgeB1oKeVhEcMSh0sYo2wBO6-yTXRXzws9c7_LbMSHrjYFNwoA38slwQtCTcQ42vhVjNSyBmNlJuTcNsvnCsfFIfV9tR2j43Q33D0gb7DKNr12yFqC57hoitFsP-fDhX9Z7aV0bH8bCBMA/s640/blogger-image--196936804.jpg"></a></div>Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-452454043680838904.post-77499291170808281832014-02-05T08:37:00.002-05:002014-02-05T08:37:54.036-05:00Snow Day.....again!Happy Snow Day everyone. I know at this point we are all pretty much done with snow days, but I hope you enjoy a relaxing lazy day at home. Please remember to have your child do the e-day assignment for art if your child has art today. It can be accessed by:<br />
go to www.westerville.k12.oh.us<br />
click on Student Portal<br />
Click on e-day lessons<br />
click on art and the grade level<br />
<br />
Students have two weeks to complete and turn in. I promise it is not too labor intensive, but it does get your child to think about art and expand upon the knowledge they have already gained in class.<br />
<br />
Thanks!<br />

We drew bugs/insects in styrofoam and printed several times. After choosing the best print, it was mounted twice and students then drew their bug around the print. It was mounted again and then students wrote what bugged then around the entire thing. We talked about printing technique, mounting, symmetry, good composition and writing. These were so fun!!!<br><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhrlD6KKf0Q7SwagaB2px_54AIAZkDMg5DqVIBh4oDdvAHMzSWX_1nhfZbHCFWrOpIZvds5hWmj5KxYFuOMeImklzXNzohqgDh1LVDv73LAHseL7UHJ75AQaT214vhBxJOg1delepURBR8/s640/blogger-image--1382144910.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhrlD6KKf0Q7SwagaB2px_54AIAZkDMg5DqVIBh4oDdvAHMzSWX_1nhfZbHCFWrOpIZvds5hWmj5KxYFuOMeImklzXNzohqgDh1LVDv73LAHseL7UHJ75AQaT214vhBxJOg1delepURBR8/s640/blogger-image--1382144910.jpg"></a></div><br><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiv1chG_g7EoPlee-aQuUurC8BH1LH9iyzP5XI7dm-WTcd1Yl_0zBKEfapmnZFcg3gZazpNxrbone7Mosv8s0LklQ6vfFI_L-BKpjz1sMQfgbrszfGz3Irj9wsnHM2Jqt47cQdSmFTBVeU/s640/blogger-image-886038620.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiv1chG_g7EoPlee-aQuUurC8BH1LH9iyzP5XI7dm-WTcd1Yl_0zBKEfapmnZFcg3gZazpNxrbone7Mosv8s0LklQ6vfFI_L-BKpjz1sMQfgbrszfGz3Irj9wsnHM2Jqt47cQdSmFTBVeU/s640/blogger-image-886038620.jpg"></a></div>Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-452454043680838904.post-29340051683670971922014-01-21T15:32:00.001-05:002014-01-21T15:32:30.285-05:002nd grade birch treesThe second graders made these gorgeous collage/paintings of birch trees. We painted the background with abstract colors and lines- filling the space with color but bring careful not to get our colors muddy looking. Next we painted our trees with black paint on another paper. While the paint was wet we used a small piece of cardboard to scrape the paint over to resemble the bark of a birch tree. In each "section" students painted different values of the same color. They picked one color then added white to create various tints and black to that color to create various shades. Each section had to be different and they had to use proper brush techniques to create clean lines and even mixing. <div>We talked about color in nature and color around us everyday. Value is a part of how we perceive color. <div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi3BJok4R7pxSA1hTpkSo5m65kSpXwRyQwRcZW5YvvNeeSrJ2N4Q4wtJvW2jbjYKLz6Fsv3OkrsP1xJlhmHEDhSiqm5kQzBxijzpSN8KKfcI_Vxa9a4mEO_6eKtFKI7tBtXOyu1pzDkDaU/s640/blogger-image--1343067172.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi3BJok4R7pxSA1hTpkSo5m65kSpXwRyQwRcZW5YvvNeeSrJ2N4Q4wtJvW2jbjYKLz6Fsv3OkrsP1xJlhmHEDhSiqm5kQzBxijzpSN8KKfcI_Vxa9a4mEO_6eKtFKI7tBtXOyu1pzDkDaU/s640/blogger-image--1343067172.jpg"></a></div></div>Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0
